\"cake-smash-cherubs-winning-photo-brown_001\"<\/a>Children and mess go hand in hand \u2013 it\u2019s impossible to avoid. But what if you can let them get messy and then leave the clearing up to someone else, and have something really special to treasure afterwards?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what our cake smash photoshoots are all about, and they are so much fun. And we were delighted that one of our images was chosen as the photo of the month by Cherubs.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the perfect excuse to tell you a bit more about what we do and why we love it so much, although I think you can probably guess from the look on this little one\u2019s face!<\/p>\n

Cake smash photos started as a great way to mark your cherub\u2019s first birthday. After all, birthdays mean cake, so it\u2019s only right that cake should be included in the photos, right?\"_DSC1863_col_web\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But we\u2019ve seen too many images of the birthday boy or girl reaching out for their beautiful cake, which has no doubt been lovingly created by mum or nan, only to have it kept tantalisingly out of reach and then divided up between various visiting aunts and uncles, with perhaps a tiny slice for the star of the day.<\/p>\n

So what would happen if you put the baby and the cake together, and then photographed the result? Well, mess…but the beauty of doing it in our studio is that we\u2019ll clean up for you. Plus our set-up means no distractions in the background of the photos, such as granddad snoozing in the armchair or the family dog hoovering up crumbs.<\/p>\n

Toddlers love to touch and feel, and the different textures of a sponge cake, icing and then decorations such as sprinkles make it a wonderful experience for them. We\u2019ll capture their expressions, from delight to awe, and you\u2019ll have the images to treasure forever.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t have to just be for first birthdays \u2013 the shoots are a great way to encourage older children to release their inner child. And just as every person is different, every image is different because no two children react the same way \u2013 although the amount of mess is usually the same, ie a lot!<\/p>\n

All you need to do is bring your little one, a change of clothes and a towel, and we\u2019ll do the rest.
